Quick answers to the questions we hear most.
Sarfyaty is a personal-finance app that helps you see where your money actually goes each month. You can log expenses and income, set budgets for the categories that matter most, track savings goals and debts, share expenses with family, and get reminders when a budget is close to its limit.
Yes — the app is currently free to use with no ads. If we introduce paid features in the future, we'll always tell you well in advance, and we'll never charge you for something you already had for free.
Yes. The app works in any modern mobile browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox) and is fully responsive. You can also install it to your home screen from your browser's menu for an app-like experience with offline support.
Tap the green + button in the bottom-right corner (draggable — put it wherever you like), or use ⌘K / Ctrl-K to open the command palette and start typing. Enter an amount, pick a category, and save. That's it. You can add more details later — notes, tags, a receipt photo, an account — but they're all optional.
Yes. When adding an expense, tap the receipt icon and either take a photo or upload one. The app reads the amount and date automatically so you just need to pick the category and save. The scanning is powered by OCR.space — only the image is sent, and the result is discarded after use.
All major world currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, and Iraqi Dinar (IQD, the default). You can pick a primary currency in Settings, and log individual expenses in any other currency — the app converts them automatically using current exchange rates that update daily.
Yes — for logging expenses. If you're offline when you tap save, the expense is queued in your browser's storage and syncs automatically the next time you're online. You'll see a subtle indicator when the queue has items, and a confirmation toast when they sync. Other features (charts, reports, receipt scanning) need a connection.
Go to Settings → Household, create a household, and invite members by email. Anyone in the household can add expenses to a shared pool, and you'll all see them in real time. Each person keeps their private expenses separate — only shared ones show to others.
Bills or subscriptions that repeat on a schedule — rent, Netflix, phone bills, gym memberships. Set one up once with an amount and frequency (weekly / monthly / yearly / custom), and the app auto-logs the expense each period. You'll get a reminder before it posts, so you can pause or edit if the amount changes.
Both. Set a monthly budget per category (Groceries: 500,000 IQD, Dining out: 200,000 IQD, etc.) and the app shows a progress bar with an alert when you get close. For savings goals, pick a target amount and date — the app tells you how much to set aside each month and tracks contributions.
Yes. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, all connections use HTTPS/TLS, and your data is only ever visible to you (and your household members for shared expenses). We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers — read the Privacy Policy for the full details.
Three types, all optional: Daily reminders to log yesterday's expenses, weekly summaries of your spending trends, and budget alerts when you're close to a limit. You can turn each type on/off, and choose email, push, or both. All controls are in Settings → Notifications.
Yes. Go to Expenses and tap the download icon — you can export as CSV (for spreadsheets) or PDF (for a formatted statement). You can filter by date range and category before exporting. Your data belongs to you, so export it any time.
Go to Settings → Profile → Danger Zone → Delete Account. You'll confirm with your password. We hold your account for 30 days as a grace period — you can cancel any time during those 30 days from the warning email or by logging back in. After 30 days everything is permanently deleted.
On the login page, click Forgot password? and enter your email. We'll send you a reset link that's valid for one hour. If you signed up with Google, you don't have a password to reset — just click "Continue with Google" on the login page.
